Since being appointed Secretary General and CEO of the Botswana Red Cross Society, Dr. Mukokomani has steered significant institutional transformation framed by the Society’s 2020–2025 strategic plan, a revised constitution, strengthened internal systems, and a new youth policy, all aimed at positioning BRCS as a trusted humanitarian partner of choice.
Under his leadership, the National Society has responded to multiple natural disasters and public health emergencies ranging from prolonged droughts, floods, Polio, malaria, and COVID-19. Through his strategic and agile guidance, the BRCS intensified its volunteer training programs and engaged thousands of volunteers in community outreach and emergency response. Dr Mukokomani emphasizes expanding community impact: over 1.8 million individuals have benefitted from BRCS interventions, with more than 15,000 volunteers mobilized across the country to respond to future eventualities. The National Society disbursed about P82 million into various humanitarian efforts between 2019 and 2022, and it continues to increase its visibility and reach to areas of need.
In health initiatives such as rural immunization drives, BRCS under Dr Mukokomani’s leadership supported the delivery of over 10,500 vaccine doses, plus Vitamin A and deworming treatment to children, aided by mobilisers, data clerks, vaccinators, and supervisors across multiple districts. A versatile leader, Dr. Mukokomani also engages in public empowerment by participating in events and forums that reinforce BRCS’s community integration approaches.
